Location: Festival Stage
Eligibility: Contestants must be at least 18 years of age,
female, single and not pregnant. They must be legal residents
of one of the 15 counties of Western New York and a U.S. citizen.
They should be of good moral character with no criminal record
(excluding petty offenses) and no criminal charges currently pending.
Contestants must submit proof of residency in order for their
application to be complete. Fax a copy of your driver's license
to 565-4140 or scan and email to misswing@buffalowing.com.
The 15 applicants selected to take part will be contacted via
email by August 31, 2007.
Entry deadline: August 31, 2007. Application and proof
of residency must be received by this date.
Entry fee: $20 donation to festival charities. Checks or
money orders made payable to: RMI Promotions Group. Donations
will be collected on contest day at time of check-in.
Judging criteria:
- Contestants
must model a casual dress and introduce themselves at the microphone.
(50% of overall score)
- Answer
a chicken wing trivia question. (50% of overall score)
- Taste
test chicken wings for bonus points. (Bonus points are added
to total score)
Contestant
with the highest total number of points will be crowned "Miss
Buffalo Wing". If a tie should happen, the contestant with the
higher score in the modeling/interview category will win the title.
Attire: Contestants must wear a knee-length summer dress.
No jeans, please.
Prizes & awards: Miss Buffalo Wing 2007 will receive a
crown, banner, trophy and a prize package with an estimated value
of approximately $500. The first and second runners-up with each
receive a trophy.
Titleholder's Duties & Responsibilities: Miss Buffalo Wing
is a volunteer spokesperson for the National Buffalo Wing Festival.
She must have a working knowledge of the festival events and sponsors,
as well as an understanding of the heritage connected to Chicken
Wings and the City of Buffalo/Western New York. Miss Buffalo Wing
will make personal appearances throughout the two day festival,
as well as events following the festival and those prior to next
year's event. The newly crowned titleholder should plan to spend
the remainder of the day at the Festival, as well as Day Two,
making personal appearances and taking part in media interviews.
The titleholder may not make any appearances as "Miss Buffalo
Wing"without the expressed written permission of RMI Promotions
Group. Miss Buffalo Wing will not be financially compensated for
making personal appearances.
Pageant schedule: Contestants must check in on Saturday,
September 1st between 2:30pm and 3:00pm behind the festival stage.
Donations will be collected at that time. There are no dressing
rooms. Contestants must arrive dressed and ready to compete.
