| If nothing
else, "Osmosis Jones" earned Bill Murray a free Buffalo Wing
Festival cap and T-shirt.
Yes, that's the actor/comedian in the above photo, modeling his wingfest gear with ex-Buffalonian Tom Pallas, now a real estate agent on Martha's Vineyard. Murray's film "Osmosis Jones" centered on a national chicken wing fest in Buffalo. That prompted News columnist Donn Esmonde to ask why there wasn't actually such an event, which got Drew Cerza - head of a food promotions company - to organize the first one this past Labor Day. Soon afterward, Pallas rented a cottage on the Vineyard to Murray and his brother, Joel. The real estate agent contacted Cerza, who shipped out the freebies. Pallas said Murray was "intrigued and amused" that his movie had inspired a real-life festival. Murray, a golf nut, also liked the hat, which he wore on the links that day. Asked if he'd show up at next year's wingfest, Murray responded with "maybe." Hey, Bill:
Show up and you get the sweat shirt, too. |
